BROKENSKY of the HUALAPAI TRIBE ~ GRAND CANYON WEST ~ AZ

GRAND CANYON WEST, LAND OF THE HAUALAPAI NATION

Gamyu to the Hualapai Tribe "People of the Tall Pines"

“Gamyu” means “Welcome” and it is the language of the Hualapai Tribe whose members are living by the west side of the Grand Canyon…

The drive to the west side of the Grand Canyon, as far as the eye can see, is just desert, cactus and rocks. The fact that the last 15miles aren’t paved, underlined this impressively again. But the total-body-massage while driving over the gravel runaway was absolutely worth it to see this natural wonder.

On the west side (also called West Rim) there are two scenic spots, the Eagle Point and the Guano Point.

I also had opportunity to photograph some Indian Tipis and to learn a bit about the former way of life of the Hualapai Tribe.

…an indescribable experience ~ absolutely overwhelming!

This picture was taken at EAGLE POINT, where at 4,000 feet above the Colorado River, this Majestic View has been a special point of interest for the Hualapai People. With its beautiful panoramic views of the canyon walls where the Heavens and Earth meet with such magnificenc!

Zion National Park in Utah ... is Spectacular!
Zion is often said to be the most beautiful place in America. "Spectacular" is uttered time and time again as eyes raise to view the vast monoliths of the best of Utah's National Parks. Zion National Park unveils its eight layers of sandstone, displaying what has taken two-hundred-million years to carve and mold. This spectacular corner of Utah is a masterpiece of towering cliffs, deep red canyons, mesas, buttes and massive monoliths. Zion's fame is due to more than beauty, it can also boast on its geology, hiking, backpacking and some of the best scenic drives anywhere.

The Park is located in the Southwestern United States, near Springdale, Utah. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles long and up to half a mile deep, cut through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River.
